K-9 Helps Track Down Men Charged in Residential Burglary

Three Aurora men were arrested after police said they attempted to burglarize a home in the 2500 block of Rosecroft Lane.

The ’s K-9 unit played a role in apprehending three men who were charged with residential burglary Monday night.

The residents were home sleeping at the time of the incident, but nobody was harmed, police said.

Three Aurora men were charged with residential burglary and criminal trespass after officers responded at 10:42 p.m. Monday to an alarm at a home in the 3500 block of Rosecroft Lane, Naperville police said in a news release Wednesday.

All Aurora residents, Brian A. Williams, 18, of the 3000 block of Long Grove Lane; Shivan Zeynali, 19, of the 2200 block of South Crescent Lane; and Larry E. Foster, 19, of the 2200 block of Bannister Lane, were charged in the burglary, police said.

When officers arrived at the home, they reported seeing people running away and noticing that it appeared someone had trespassed on the home and its backyard. Officers began searching the home and the neighborhood to determine whether a burglary did occur.

A woman and her teenage son were locked in a bedroom inside the home until police arrived. They were unharmed, Naperville police said. 

Sabek, a member of the department’s K-9 unit, helped with the search along with officers on foot who found two of the men who fled the scene of the burglary, police said. Two of the men were caught at 11:22 p.m. near Route 59 south of 95th Street. After further investigation, police said a third man was arrested later at his home in Aurora.

The men were charged and taken to the Will County Jail early Tuesday morning.
