Four women were arrested and charged with prostitution at a Naperville hotel Friday after the participated in the FBI’s “Operation Cross County VI,” a nationwide crackdown on child sex trafficking.
While no children were involved in the Naperville sweep, 79 child victims of prostitution were discovered and more than 100 pimps were arrested across the country during the three-day operation, according to the FBI.
“Even though our arrests didn’t net any children involved in prostitution, it was under that particular operation,” Naperville Police Department Sgt. Gregg Bell said. “In our cases, all of the individuals that were arrested were all adults.”
Police said Sharon Lynn Romaine, 50, of Vernon Hills; Melissa Sue Ronczkowski, 23, of Bolingbrook; and Palatine residents Tara Ann Zagone, 19, and Sherry Ann Cameron, 33, were arrested Friday at a hotel in the 1800 block of Diehl Road.
Ronczkowski was arrested at 8:43 p.m. and also charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Zagone and Cameron were arrested at 4:48 p.m. and Romaine at 7:58 p.m., police said.
Another woman, Malgorzata Zielinski, 47, of Woodridge, was also arrested for prostitution on Friday near Ferry Road and North Route 59, but it is unclear whether she was arrested as part of the operation. Zielinski was arrested at 3:34 p.m. and also charged with driving on a suspended/revoked license for the second time. She was transported to DuPage County Jail, police said.
