Five Men Charged in Gas Station Robbery

A Mobil gas station was robbed of cigarettes, soft drinks and other items on Sept. 12.

have arrested five men in the theft of cigarettes, soft drinks and other items from a gas station on Sept. 12.

The items were stolen from a Mobil gas station in the 1300 block of Plainfield-Naperville Road, police said. The clerk, who was the only employee in the store at the time, provided police with a description of three men. Two other men subsequently were arrested. All were charged with Class 2 felonies of robbery and burglary.

According to , the suspects who were charged are Victor D. Pulphus Jr., 19, of the 2500 block of Eldorado Lane; Mack C. Lumpkin Jr., 19, of the 8300 block of South Kingston Avenue; Claude Shaw, 19, of the 8300 block of South Kingston Avenue; Christopher C. Partin, 24, of the 500 block of Fessler Avenue; and Andrew L. Mathis, 30.

Police searched the general area after the incident and were led to the 500 block of Fessler Avenue where they found a red Dodge Durango with two suspects inside, said. During the investigation, police were led to another address on the same block where two additional individuals matching the description of the offenders were found.

Two suspects were arrested Tuesday night; the three additional men arrested on Wednesday — two men arrested at a residence on Fessler Avenue and a third arrested in the roadway, police said.
