The bank robbery took place at about 6:50 p.m. at the Oxford Bank, 2920 83rd St. No one was injured in the incident, Naperville Police said.

When officers arrived at the bank, employees said a man entered the bank with a handgun and demanded an undisclosed amount of money from tellers, Naperville Police Cmdr. Tom Kammerer said in a news release Saturday afternoon.

Once the man received the money he fled on foot. Witnesses said the chase led police to search for the suspect northeast of the bank in nearby Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve.

Around 10 to 15 marked and unmarked police cars as well as a police helicopter were seen surrounding a large portion of the prairie, witnesses said.

By 8:30 p.m., the search around the forest preserve had ended, but a few officers could still be seen inside the bank asking employees questions.

No description of the suspect was given and the bank robbery is currently under investigation.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to contact the Naperville Police Department at 630-420-4137 or the FBI at 312-431-6700.
