Mental Evaluation Ordered for Man Accused in Naperville Murder

A judge has ordered a sanity evaluation for a 54-year-old man accused of murdering his sister in 2011 in her home on Naperville's far south side, according to CBS Chicago. 

Last March, it was determined Mark R. Lewis, of Lakemoor, was mentally unfit to stand trial on four murder charges, one charge of home invasion/cause injury, one count of residential burglary as well as one count of identity theft, according to Will County online court records. 

Lewis is accused of beating his sister, Cathleen Lewis, 59, with a hammer, according to CBS Chicago. Cathleen was found dead in her townhome at 1339 Worthing Drive  June 8, in an apparent homicide. She had sustained multiple head injuries due to blunt head trauma and an assault, according to the Will County Coroner’s Office.

The confrontation between the two siblings began when Cathleen asked Mark about some money that had gone missing, according to ABC7 Chicago. Mark Lewis went missing for 47 days after Cathleen's death and authorities eventually arrested him in Florida in July 2011, according to the article. 
 
Mark Lewis is also charged with identify theft for accusations that he embezzled more than $2,000 from his elderly mother's bank account, according to the Naperville Sun. 

Will County Court records show Mark Lewis is next expected in court on April 17.
