Displaced Homeowners Return After Thursday Night Fire

First responders battled a blaze Thursday night.

Although a Thursday night fire in the 500 block of  Beaconsfield Avenue left behind more than $70,000 worth of damage, family members were still allowed Friday to return to their home.

The Naperville Fire Department responded to a 911 call made from the single-family house shortly before 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Nearly 30 fireman showed to battle the blaze, according to a news release.
 
"The first unit arrived on the scene at 8:33 p.m. and reported smoke coming from the rear of the home," stated a news release. "Crews took a fire hose inside the home and began extinguishing the fire. Additional arriving companies began ventilating the roof to relieve the heat and smoke inside ..."

The fire was under control within 15 minutes, said the release.

The homeowners reported that they were burning wood in the fireplace when they noticed smoke escaping at an alarming rate. There were no reported injuries, but damage to the home was estimated to be in excess of $70,000. The homeowners were displaced Thursday night but were expected to return home Friday.
