Court Watch: Judge Upholds Porn Star's Lawsuit Against Local Theater

Lawsuits were filed last year after adult film star Jenna Jameson failed to appear at local movie theaters.

A judge last week upheld a counter lawsuit by adult film star Jenna Jameson against the promoter of two canceled appearances at local movie theaters last year.

Last March, Ted Bulthaup, the owner of in Naperville and Hollywood Blvd. in Woodridge, promoted meet-and-greets with Jameson and special screenings of her movie, but Jameson backed out with what she said was an illness.

In Bulthaup’s , which also lists Jameson by her real name, Jenna Marie Massoli, it claimed she skipped out on contracted appearances at showings of her 2008 movie Zombie Strippers! so she could attend celebrity gossip columnist Perez Hilton's birthday party. Hilton mentioned the lawsuit on his blog.

Jameson later filed a countersuit relating to the failed attempts to reschedule the event within a timeframe allowed by the original agreement. Earlier court records stated that her attorneys claimed the owner the Hollywood theaters didn't care about the rescheduling option and instead chose an "attempt to extort and blackmail" Jameson.

In an e-mail sent in April 2011, Bathaup's attorney makes clear the uneasiness felt about the potential risk Jameson would back out of a rescheduled appearance. Jameson's conduct made Hollywood unwilling to "risk" another failed event. The cancellations cost the theaters "total damages ... well into the six figures," the email states.
