Even though , heat was not a factor in a 74-year-old Naperville man's death on Friday, the DuPage County Coroner's office said.
James C. Hobbs, of the 400 block of East Bailey Road, was found dead on the sidewalk in the 400 block of East Bailey Road after suffering from a heart attack and hypertension, DuPage County Coroner's office said. He died at approximately 10:53 a.m.
Hobbs was walking back from a nearby , as he usually did every day according to neighbors, when he died on Friday morning.
A passerby notified the after seeing Hobbs lying on the sidewalk, Naperville Police Department Sgt. Gregg Bell said.
Witnesses who knew him said Hobbs was a friendly neighbor and a "perfect gentleman."
“He was just a nice guy, such a nice man,” said 7-Eleven franchise owner Syed Hashmi. “Just a perfect gentleman.”
He said Hobbs was a joy to have as a customer and will be missed.
As of Monday, July 9 there have been no reported heat-related deaths in DuPage County, according to a coroner's office press release.
