Camaro Stolen from Garage of Naperville Home Crashed, Abandoned: Police

Police said three people may be responsible for the theft of a Chevrolet Camaro and multiple burglaries.

Naperville police are looking for more information related to the theft of a Chevrolet Camaro from the garage of a home in south Naperville.

Police said a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro was stolen after someone broke into the garage of a home in the 2600 block of Champion Road around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning.

The owner saw his Camaro running in front of his home after he was awakened by a noise coming from his garage, according to the Naperville Police Department.

The resident then confronted a person who was inside a second vehicle within his garage, "at which time the subject ran from the garage and entered the Camaro," police said.  

The person then sped off in the Camaro and later abandoned the car after crashing near North Aurora and Eola roads in nearby Aurora. Police found items from multiple burglaries inside the car, according to police.

Police believe there are at least three people responsible for the burglary and possibly others.

Naperville Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or people responsible for the thefts.
