Authorities: Charcoal Grill Caused Naperville Balcony Fire

A charcoal grill caused a blaze at a Naperville town home Sunday, fire officials said.

Firefighters were called to 2504 Durango Lane in Naperville at 5:54 p.m. on Sunday where they found heavy black smoke coming from the balcony of a two-story townhouse, according to a Naperville Fire Department press release.

The fire was contained to the building's balcony but there was smoke damage throughout the unit. The blaze was brought under control within 10 minutes.

Damage to the building is estimated at $60,000, and the unit has been deemed uninhabitable until repairs could be made. The cause of the fire was attributed to a charcoal grill on the balcony, according to the news release.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Naperville Police Department and Plainfield Fire Department. The Bolingbrook and Lisle-Woodridge Fire Departments provided coverage at Naperville’s fire stations during this incident.

There were no injuries to any civilians or firefighters.

Once again the NFD didn't release ALL information that I demand. They didn't tell us what brand of charcoal the people were using or even what they were cooking. What are they trying to hide? Why aren't they telling us? We, as citizens, have the right to know everything about everyone. The whole thing is nothing but a conspiracy!

Now was that so hard JR just to tell us what caused the fire? If they would do this in the first place (which they surely could if they wanted too) the questions/suspicions wouldn't come up in the first place.

They haven't told us anything. What were they cooking? What charcoal brand? They haven't given me all the information I want. I believe there is a conspiracy. I want more. This is all about what I want - you can be a lemming if you think there isn't a cover up.

Now your just being foolish and it reflects poorly on your maturity or lack thereof.

This thread should be like looking in a mirror for you. My guess is that you just don't realize that this is the way everyone sees you.
