Aurora Man Found Guilty of Sexually Assaulting Young Child

Brandon M. Niford could now face between six and 30 years in prison.

A Kane County jury found a 30-year-old Aurora man guilty of sexually assaulting a young child during a trial this week.

Brandon M. Niford, of the 400 block of Plum Street in Aurora, could now face between six and 30 years in prison following his conviction on a predatory criminal sexual assault of a child charge, according to a Kane County State's Attorney's Office press release.

A jury deliberated for less than two hours before finding him guilty late Wednesday, according to the news release.

Prosecutors said between February 2007 and February 2010, Niford engaged in an act of sexual penetration with the victim, whom he knew. The victim was younger than 13 years old at the time.

Niford's sentencing hearing is set for July 23 in the Kane County Judicial Center.

Niford remains in custody at the Kane County jail, where he has been held since his arrest in lieu of $1 million bail. Bond was revoked upon conviction.
