Police: Scottsdale Circle Burglars Caught After Homeowner Chases Suspects

A Naperville homeowner temporarily detained two juvenile burglary suspects shortly before Naperville and Aurora police arrived on the scene Friday afternoon, according to reports.

After help from a Naperville homeowner, officers were able to catch two burglars Friday afternoon in southwest Naperville, according to a press release issued by the .

Naperville police said they responded to a call of a burglary in progress at 12:37 p.m. Friday in the 3500 block of Scottsdale Circle in Naperville’s White Eagle neighborhood.

Before officers arrived to the scene, police said a homeowner who saw the burglary chased and temporarily detained the suspects. However, the homeowner could not contain the burglars long enough for police to arrive, according to reports.

After a description of the suspects was given by the witness, officers canvassed the area and notified the Aurora Police Department as well as the DuPage County Sheriff’s Police for K-9 assistance, police said.

Aurora police later located and detained one of the suspects on Schoger Road about 30 minutes after the call was dispatched, around 1:07 p.m. The second suspect was also taken into custody by Aurora police at 1:50 p.m. near Bar Harbour Road.

Both of the locations were not far from where the burglary was reported.

The subjects were identified as juveniles and no official charges had been filed at the time of the press release.
