86-Year-old Naperville Woman Dies After Single-Car Accident

The Naperville police and fire departments responded to a fatal car accident at 12:11 p.m. Monday.

Naperville police are investigating a one-car accident in which an 86-year-old Naperville woman died from her injuries.

Josephine Guy was a passenger in the vehicle, which police said ran into a tree at about 12:11 p.m. Monday. She was taken to , where she died.

The and responded to Royal Saint George and Briergate drives for a report that a vehicle struck a tree, police said. Upon arrival, responders found a 2003 Dodge Neon in the parkway of 1013 Royal Saint George Drive. The driver of the car was identified as Margaret Murphy, 77, of Naperville.

“Initial investigation indicates that Murphy was southbound Royal Saint George at Briergate. Her vehicle left the roadway after it crossed the intersection and entered the parkway of 1013 Royal Saint George where it struck a tree,” Sgt. Lee Martin said in a news release Monday afternoon.

Police said both women were wearing their seatbelts. Murphy was transported to Edward Hospital with minor injuries.
