7 Charged in Naperville Drug Ring

Seven have been charged following a four-month investigation into a drug ring that police said was operated out of a Naperville apartment complex, according to a DuPage County State's Attorney's Office press release. 

“While we have made progress in our fight against heroin and other dangerous street drugs, the charges against these defendants confirms that we still have more work to do” said DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin. “With this in mind, I would like to stress that this investigation continues and I anticipate the filing of further charges before we conclude."

The following individuals who are accused of selling heroin, crack cocaine and marijuana were taken into custody last week and appeared in bond court on Friday:

  • Bernice Coleman, 53, of 400 E. Bailey in Naperville, has been charged with one count of calculated criminal drug conspiracy. A $1 million bond has been set. She must pay 10 percent of that bond to apply for her release. 
  • Jerome Powell, 61, of 400 E. Bailey in Naperville, has also been charged with one count of calculated criminal drug conspiracy. A $1 million bond has also been set with 10 percent to apply. 
  • Tretepfone Pryor, 21, of 400 E. Bailey in Naperville, has been charged with one count of delivery of marijuana. A $50,000 bond has been set with 10 percent to apply.  
  • Kortney Martez, 32, of 514 Kiowa in Naperville, has been charged with one count of delivery of marijuana. A $50,000 bond has been set with 10 percent to apply.  
  • Antonio Ervin, 25, of 1387 S. Glen Circle in Aurora, has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. A $300,000 bond has been set with 10 percent to apply. 
  • Paris Miller, 19, of 23504 W. Winston Avenue in Plainfield, has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. A $200,000 bond has been set with 10 percent to apply. 

Another defendant, Mack Jones, 56, of 1426 S. 10th Avenue in Maywood, has been charged with one count of calculated criminal drug conspiracy. He is expected to appear in Bond Court in the near future.

“As I have said previously, heroin is not just an inner-city problem. It’s here in Naperville and it’s in your community too. Our top priority is dismantling these drug trafficking organizations, who peddle their poison in our communities,” said Jack Riley, special agent-in-charge of the Chicago field division of the Drug Enforcement Administration. “But we can’t do it alone. We need parents, teachers, coaches and faith based practitioners to get involved and do their part too.”
