2 Dead, 3 Hospitalized After Naperville House Fire

Investigators were still on the scene of a Naperville home Wednesday evening where two people died and three were injured in an early-morning fire, according to the Naperville Fire Department.

The DuPage County Coroner's Office removed the two bodies around noon Wednesday from the two-story home at 1212 Field Court. Firefighters responded to the home around 6:50 a.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of a fire.

A 21-year-old man as well as an 84-year-old man and his 56-year-old daughter remain hospitalized. Two are at Edward Hospital in Naperville and a third resident is at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

Crews responded to the scene within three minutes, bringing a total of 13 emergency vehicles, seven chief officers as well as a heavy rescue squad, according to the fire department.

Neighboring residents were evacuated from their home due to the risk of a ruptured natural gas line, but they were not injured.

Within 10 minutes of arriving to the scene, "fire personnel were removed from the building due to concern of a possible structural collapse," according to the fire department.

Firefighters discovered two bodies once they were able to re-enter the home.

The names of the two residents who died have not been released.

A cause for the fire has not yet been determined, but estimated damage to the home is more than $200,000, according to the fire department.

The home will be demolished as parts of the upper level of the home collapsed into the lower level, according to the fire department.
