It’s time to “focus attention on the
importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and
physical activity habits.” –Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

WOODRIDGE,
IL (March 12, 2013) –
The desire to “Invest in Yourself – Buy Nutrition” originated in the early 70s as an opportunity to drive healthy nutrition and taking care of ones body. As the risk for diabetes and memory loss becomes an issue of
concern among elder Americans, it is important to stay informed with ways to
live a healthy life. In support of National Nutrition Month one local company
in WOODRIDGE, is getting creative and spreading awareness by distributing
flyers in their community with fun tips to stay healthy in your senior years!

March is National Nutrition Month, and
as groups around the nation are raising awareness about making informed health
decisions, local elder care advisors from Assisted Transition are working
together to raise awareness of the importance of taking care of ones health
especially as your get older.

“We've decided to distribute flyers
with fun tips of how to stay healthy as you grow older. As you age, living a
healthy life through diet and nutrition is shown to increase mental acuteness,
produce higher levels of energy, help resist illness, and better manage chronic
health problems. We want to educate about the risks of not living a healthy
lifestyle and promote fun ways to help one stay active in their senior years,” said
Rick Graffagna, owner of Assisted Transition of Chicago Western Suburbs, a
local senior living placement, referral, and advisory service for seniors in
their area.

“Each senior we work with needs
different help and assistance to find what type of living situation is best for
them,” GRAFFAGNA said. “Our Elder Care Advisors conduct personal assessments to help best understand the senior’s needs. We discuss their physical needs and
educate them about options available to them. This is where the importance of healthy
lifestyle awareness comes in. It is critical for us to understand current
health issues facing our nations aging population. That is why we want to not
only inform our clients, but to also inform the rest of the general population
about the importance of living a healthy life.”
