Santa's response: Dear DO, Since you are not a child (but seem to think like one), here is my adult response. According to the law, you are incorrect. And this is not the proper forum to debate ethics or morality.

To me it's distasteful so soon after the tragedy to use the image of a kid to support one ideology or another. I wonder what the reaction would be if the letter read: "Dear Santa, can you please give my next principal a gun for Christmas so she can protect us?" I guess the more I think about it it's not really offensive as much as it's distasteful. I wish I had used that word the first time around.

"After all, it was illegal to own a gun in the city of Chicago for 28 years" It's always been legal to own a long gun in Chicago. It's really amazing how many people think otherwise.
