Breed: Catahoula Leopard

Personality: Tessie is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. She is very quiet, loves companionship and the attention of people. We have seen improvement in Tessie’s infection over the last few weeks, but, she is still not well enough to be adopted out as a healthy dog. We want to be sure that we see her treatment through, but it breaks our hearts that she is still at the shelter. We are looking for a special home that will foster Tessie as we finish getting her well, and then ultimately, make her part of their permanent family.

Where to find this pet: For more information about any of the cats and dogs we have available for adoption, please contact A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter at 630-355-2299. All animals are spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and are up to date on age related vaccines. The shelter is a no-kill, nonprofit, animal shelter at 420 Industrial Drive, Naperville. Hardee

Age: 2 years young

Breed: Black Domestic Short Hair – Male

Background: Transfer from Sandwich Vet – at A.D.O.P.T. since Feb. 25, 2012.

Personality: Hardee may walk a bit funny – but he gets around just fine. He saw a specialist a few months ago and it was confirmed he has a torn Achilles Tendon on his back leg. However the specialist determined, since he is NOT in pain and is not having difficulty walking, we would leave the tendon as is and not repair it. He is sweet and gets along with other cats and might get along with a quiet dog. Come visit Hardee – what a luv bug!

Adoption Fee: $100.00

Other: All animals at A.D.O.P.T. are vet checked, spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and are up to date on age related vaccines.

Abbie is a 3-year-old Retriever mix who was surrendered because her previous owner did not have enough time for her. Abbie is a very active and exuberant girl who loves the water, playing fetch, giving kisses and getting lots of belly rubs. She would do best in a home without cats or dogs, and kids in her new home should be at least 16-years-old because of her size and activity level. She is a great dog who just needs to work a bit more on her manners, so continued positive reinforcement training is a must. Stop by soon to see if Abbie is the perfect match for your family.

Lois is a 4-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat who was surrendered because her family was moving and could not take her with them. She is a lovable cat who is very playful and vocal. She does get along with other cats and a calm dog just might be fine with her. Kids in her new home should be at least 5-years-old because Lois is on the active side and might be a bit much for little ones. If you are looking to add a new furry friend to your family, stop in soon to meet Lois!

More dogs and cats are available at the Naperville Area Humane Society. All the animals have been examined for health and temperament, started on their vaccines and microchipped. They are spayed or neutered at adoption. Hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Visit at 1620 W. Diehl Road in Naperville or online at www.napervilleareahumanesociety.org.
