OBITUARY: Dr. Charles Mauzey LeCrone, 76, Formerly of Lisle

Dr. Charles Mauzey LeCrone died at the age of 76 on Friday, March 28, 2014 in Decatur Memorial Hospital. 

A family graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.  Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the National Audubon Society.

Dr. LeCrone was born on December 28, 1937 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Charles Alfred “Buck” and Victoria Grace E. Mauzey LeCrone.  He grew up in Springfield, IL and after graduating from Springfield High School, attended the University of Illinois for his undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees in education.  He was a varsity letter winner at the University of Illinois in track and field.

He married Beverly Joan Wilson on February 25, 1962.  Dr. LeCrone spent 30 years as a public school educator in various school districts across the State of Illinois.  He served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and finished his career as the superintendent of schools for Riverside-Brookfield High School District #208.   

He is survived by his wife, Joan LeCrone of Shelbyville, IL; sons, Charles LeCrone (Kathleen) of Excelsior, MN and Brian LeCrone (Samantha) of Naperville, IL; brother, Armand LeCrone (Suzanne) of Wickenburg, AZ; sister-in-law, Marilyn Hamparzomian and husband Lazar of Shelbyville, IL; seven grandchildren, Geoffrey, Cameron, Emily, Trevor, Grace, Dianna and Jack; nephews, Armand and Andrew LeCrone; and niece, Suzanne Oesterling.
