Make it fast and easy! Give me more time! You hear every day. Who has enough time to get everything done? But if you have a smartphone, you’ll get a little more time when you use the Naperville Public Library’s new mobile app.
“The app is something our users really wanted!” explains Frances Tong, IT Manager. “And it’s an app that is really easy to use. The app puts library information just one click away with much faster access than going through a browser.”
Getting the app is also very easy, Frances notes. “You just go to your phone’s market place and look for Naperville Public Library app. It’s a quick download!”
With the app, Library users can check out a book, pay a fine, even download an eBook! “This is just a brief list of the many things the app can do,” Frances adds. “You can also search the library catalog, check your account, ask a question, find events, and more!”
Frances finds that searching the Library’s catalog is especially easy. Just type the first few letters of two or three words and search results will begin to appear. For example, if you’re looking for The Hunger Games, just type “hu ga.” Once you find the title you’re looking for, you can place it on hold right from your phone.
Another slick feature is BookCheck. “You can check out books, CDs or DVDs from anywhere in one of our library buildings. No waiting in line!” Frances observes. “The BookLook feature also allows you to scan an ISBN barcode anywhere and see if we own the title. You can use this for books, CDs, even DVDs.”
