Youth Volunteers Invited to Help With Fun Fall Activities at the Naperville Park District

Check out the latest volunteer opportunities for teens at the Naperville Park District.

The Naperville Park District relies on volunteers year round; however, autumn special events, such as Halloween Happening, offer a unique opportunity for high school and middle school youth to get involved in a short-term, fun volunteer experience.

“We need approximately 120 volunteers for Halloween Happening on Sunday, October 28,” said Volunteer Coordinator Lynnette Hoole. “High school service clubs provide wonderful support for this event, but there is plenty of room for other volunteers, age 14 and up,” she said.

Hoole recently attended the Oct. 2, 2012  Kidsmatter Volunteer Fair on behalf of the Naperville Park District  and spoke to parents and teens about the variety of volunteer opportunities available in the District’s parks and programs.

Volunteers can pitch in this weekend to help with “Ghost Stories in the Park…In the Dark” at the Riverwalk or with removing invasive plants at Walnut Ridge Park. Other opportunities in addition to Halloween Happening on Oct. 28 include stuffing bags for Halloween Happening on Oct. 25 and assisting with Cinderella’s Ball on November 17.

Looking ahead to the holiday season, the Naperville Park District will host the annual Volunteer Sign Up Night on Tuesday, November 13 at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. for Santa House and other popular holiday events.
