Google's Final Slap!

Those of you who have been around Internet Marketing for a while know something about the fact that everyone wants to be on top of the Google Search Pages. You may have also heard of some companies buying backlinks to get more Google juice.

There is a leading company out there called “Build My Rank” and that was their entire expertise, and they were said to be the largest in their industry. Until today. They were just de-indexed by Google on 3/19 and shut their doors on 3/20.

It’s not like they did anything “black hat,” it’s just that Google once again is pulling rank and going after private blog networks that are “overly SEO’d.” What that means is all this effort using backlinks to get to the top of Google for many might be an “old hat” strategy now. Many say Google is going after a content rich experience for the user.

What does this mean to the Small Business owner?

It means Social Media is more important now than ever! It means “Content is King.” But not just ANY content. It must be original, not original and put through a spinner. Google is rewarding content NOT black hat tricks and tactics. I think it is just their way of making things more natural and organic, which is what we need to rely on now. Organic Marketing! Say what? I know, it sounds like some kind of orange juice, right? Organic Marketing, it's a natural no-hype "truer" way to manage On-Line marketing without paying those high advertising dollars. And guess what? When you are marketing organically and place content on your Social Media sites, it will sit there, high in the ranks, like forever. When you get there through "Mechanical Marketing" using paid advertising, as soon as you stop paying for it the ad goes AWAY! All those expensive marketing dollars down the drain!

What can you do?

Insure yourself from losing rankings just because Google has another hiccup, and that way your efforts aren't wasted. Become more knowledgeable about your industry and related topics and blog about it, get engaged in Facebook ... oh, that’s right, they changed that too. Whew! Looks like we all have alot of work to do! Better set up Twitter and start tweeting if you haven’t already and get that Linked In profile updated! Now that's gonna take another cup ‘o Joe.
