Mama Bracelets Joins UK Family as They Honor Their Daughter’s Memory

Lily-Mae Fletcher was born on April 7, 2009.  One year later her parents were told the devastating news that she had Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1.  Eleven months later, in March of 2011, Lily-Mae passed away.

Lily-Mae’s mother, Kelly, says this about her beautiful daughter; “Lily-Mae had a smile that could light up the darkest of places and a face that could make the worst of times bearable.”

Lily-Mae didn’t only leave a lasting impression on many people, she also left a spirit within her mother to carry on the fight against SMA that Lily-Mae herself so gallantly fought.  With Lily-Mae in her heart and the end goal of a cure for SMA in her head, Kelly has begun extraordinary fundraising efforts for the UK’s JTSMA (Jennifer Trust for Spinal Muscular Atrophy) by starting the “Lily-Mae for SMA” organization; a non-for-profit that donates 100% of raised funds to JTSMA.

“Lily-Mae for SMA” also holds a bi-monthly Facebook auction.  In addition they are poised to hold their 1st Annual Lily-Mae for SMA Sponsored Superhero Walk (for more information visit: http://lilymaeforsmatrust.weebly.com/index.html).

Through the magic of the Internet, U.S. based business, Mama Bracelets, has also joined “Lily-Mae for SMA” in their efforts to raise awareness and funds for SMA.

“When I read Kelly’s story about her daughter I was taken aback.  We have a 3 year-old daughter with SMA Type 2 and know the feeling of wanting to do something to help,” says Michael Casten, Director of PR/Finance for Mama Bracelets.

Mama Bracelets and Lily-Mae for SMA quickly formed an online relationship centered on Spinal Muscular Atrophy and how they could work together to help the many people affected by SMA.

“We simply offered to donate 15% of our exclusive “Cure SMA” product line to JTSMA through Lily-Mae for SMA.  Kelly graciously placed us on her website and we are hoping the word spreads in her area.” says Casten.

He continues, “We have raised over $2500 (USD) for the U.S. based FSMA (Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy) and with a new customer base that could develop in the UK we hope to do the same for JTSMA.”

Customers visiting Mama Bracelets and purchasing any “Cure SMA” product get a choice of which “Donation Destination” they want the 15% to go to; Lily-Mae for SMA is now one of the options!
