Black and Gold: More Than Colors

The Value Behind the Colors

I run a new adult personal training gym in Naperville called Beyond Measure Training. Everybody keeps asking us why the colors are black and gold, and there is no better day then today to tell the story why. “Are you guys Steelers fans?” and “Does batman train here?” are some of the questions we have gotten regarding our color scheme. No, we are not Steelers fans and unfortunately Bruce Wayne has his own workout facility. Our colors have a much stronger meaning behind them.

The colors come from our inspiration behind our business. Our inspiration is a man named Shaun Wild. Shaun was a 2nd grade teacher at Springbrook elementary school, and was one of the hardest working, most dedicated professionals we have ever known. On top of his relentless work ethic and dedication to his craft was is passion and love for people. Shaun was great at connecting with people. He would go out of his way to make people feel great about them-selves. It didn’t matter if he knew you for 10 years or 10 minutes, he would always boost your self-esteem and self-confidence after spending time with him. If more of us made an effort to make this happen with everyone we meet and everyone we encounter on an everyday basis, this world would be a much better place.

Shaun Robert Wild was taken from us on February 4, 2012. He was 24. Shaun’s high school in Brown Deer, Wisconsin wears the black and gold colors. If you are reading this right now, please take a second and think about your interactions with people. Do people feel better about themselves after being in your presence? If they don’t, please don’t assume that it isn’t possible for you. This type of skill can be developed just like any other. However, like any other skill, in order to become great at it, you need to be intentional about it. It takes continual effort to raise the level of the people around you. These are the values we at Beyond Measure Training hold, and work to inspire others to live by.

Thank you, Shaun. Your legacy continues to empower and inspire people every day.
