Tokyo Bay Sushi Bar & Grill announces new Executive Chef, Henry Zhang

Tokyo Bay Bar & Grill welcomes new Executive Chef Henry Zhang to revamp the menu and bring the restaurant to new heights.

Naperville, Illinois (May 20, 2011) – Tokyo Bay Bar & Grill welcomes new Executive Chef Henry Zhang to revamp the menu and bring the restaurant to new heights.

Tokyo Bay Bar & Grill opened its doors in 2008 to rave reviews. As the restaurant scene is ever changing, owner and local restauranteur Ken Eng decided to bring onboard Henry Zhang as Executive Chef.

Chef Henry Zhang is a man born in Guang Zhou, China living in Brooklyn, New York who fell into the restaurant industry while attending a trade school, like many do. In 2000, he waited tables at an Asian fusion restaurant in Brooklyn, Faan. As a waiter, he was more interested in the behind the scenes and became fascinated with the sushi chefs. "Their work was like art…and I wanted to do what they did," Chef Henry describes about his first interest in pursuing a career as a chef.

He begged the sushi chef to teach him how to roll sushi and the rest is history. His career as a sushi chef began with Faan. From there he moved on to Haru Sushi, an upscale Japanese restaurant with 6 locations in New York, as well as in Boston and Philadelphia. There he started to get a taste of fine dining and what it takes to make it in the "big leagues".

Today, he has come onboard with Ken Eng as the Executive Chef at Tokyo Bay in South Naperville. When asked about what he would like his mark to be at Tokyo Bay, he responded, “I want to give guests a great high-end dining experience where the food and service begs them to come back for more.”
