Thanksgiving: Naperville Offices Closed, Garbage Collection Changes

City of Naperville offices will be closed on Thanksgiving and changes are scheduled for garbage as well as recycling collections for some residents.

A number of closures will be in effect on Thursday as well as Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. Here are a list of some of the closures, changes to hours of operation and changes to garbage collection.

Garbage/Recycling Collection Changes  

There will be no curbside garbage/recycling collection on Thursday, Nov. 28. Residents whose regular collection occurs on Thursday and Friday of this week will have their garbage and recycling picked up one day later. More Information on residential garbage collection can be found on the city’s website.

City of Naperville

The city of Naperville’s municipal center will be closed on Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving.

Naperville Park District Closures and Operation Changes

The following Naperville Park District facilities will be closed Thursday, November 28 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday:  

  • Planning and Development Office, 425 W. Jackson Ave.

  • Park District Administration Building, 320 W. Jackson Ave.

  • The 95th Street Center, 2244 W. 95th St. 

  • Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, 305 W. Jackson Ave. 

  • Barn Recreation Center  

  • Over the weekend building hours will be limited to only times when programs are scheduled to meet.  Sportsman’s Trapshooting Range, 735 S. West St., will also be closed on Thursday, November 28, but will be open on Sunday, December 1.

  • Springbrook and Naperbrook Golf Courses will be closed all day on Thursday, November 28, reopening on Friday morning, November 29 and maintaining regular hours of operation over the weekend.

  • Naperville Public Library

    Thanksgiving will be observed by the Naperville Public Library with Nichols, 95th Street, and Naper Boulevard facilities closing at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and remaining closed on Thursday, Nov. 28. The normal operating hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. will resume on Friday, Nov. 29.

    Drive-up returns will continue to be available over the holiday. Materials may be renewed by calling 630.961.0460 or through the Library Catalogwww.naperville-lib.org is open 24/7 for downloads or to renew materials online.

    DuPage County Health Department

    The DuPage County Health Department’s Public Health Centers in Addison, Lombard, West Chicago, Westmont and Wheaton will be closed Thursday and Friday. The Health Department’s Crisis Hotline 630-627-1700 in Behavioral Health Services will remain in operation.
