Blessings in a Backpack provides elementary school students on the federal free and reduced price meal program with a backpack of food that can be easily prepared to take home throughout the school year.

"We want to create a new benchmark and a new standard for the fitness industry", said Eco Gym general manager Sonny Benso in a press release. "It will not only benefit a great cause but we will be creating energy for our community."

Eco Gym is the first and only 24-hour health club in the world powered by a combination of human and solar energy. Members help generate power while working out on the club's machines, according to Eco Gym.

The health club is also teaming up with the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce for the event.

"I got involved with Blessings in a Backpack last summer after meeting Ramona Ustain, the National Director of the program and Brooke Wiseman the CEO," said chamber member Adam Parks in a press release. "My wife, Gina Parks who is a third grade school teacher at Long Beach Elementary in Montgomery where roughly 50% of the students enrolled are on a free or reduced lunch program. Gina and I had been wanting to do something to help the kids at her school for years so when we heard about Blessings we immediately got involved. Connecting the dots was a no brainer and the rest is history."

All proceeds from the event will go to Blessings in a Backpack, according to Eco Gym. Walk-ins are welcome, space permitting.
