We Grow Dreams 4K Walk for Dreams

Freedom Commons Site of We Grow Dreams 4K Walk for Dreams and Fall Festival

Families, friends, walkers, strollers, wagons, wheelchairs  and leashed pets are invited to take part in the We Grow Dreams Fall Festival and 4K Walk for Dreams at Freedom Commons in Naperville,  Saturday, October 9.  The walk will cover an easy 2.5 miles along Diehl Road adjoining the Naperville lifestyle center that has been home to the We Grow Dreams Garden Market since May.  The walk steps off at 8:30 am rain or shine to raise funds for job training and employment for young adults with disabilities.

The Walk of Dreams will be kicked off by Naperville Mayor George Pradel and the Naperville Firefighters Highland Guard. The festival continues until 1 pm with refreshments, a raffle, pumpkin painting and fall plants and gifts for sale at the final day of the We Grow Dreams Garden Market. The market will offer various sizes and colors of mums as well as cool weather hanging baskets, pumpkins, decorative kale and cabbage, cornstalks and handcrafted gifts created by We Grow Dreams team members.

Proceeds benefit the We Grow Dreams Greenhouse and Garden Center in West Chicago,  a not-for-profit retail/wholesale greenhouse providing an innovative approach for job training and employment.  Team members with disabilities work a minimum of 10 hours per month in the Greenhouse, earning minimum wage and learning new skills with the support of a job coach.

"Our goal is to provide people with disabilities the opportunity to train and work in a supportive, caring environment," says Donna F. Jarmusz, President, We Grow Dreams, Inc.  "At the same time, we want to be able to provide products and services to the community."  The program has garnered national attention and made a significant difference in the lives of many team members and their families.
