'Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal and Delight in Our Busy Lives'

Does some sacred time just for yourself – away from the
demands of everyday life – sound enticing? Certainly an inviting thought, isn’t
it

Then accept the invitation of St. Thomas the Apostle
Catholic Church to attend “Sabbath:
Finding Rest, Renewal and Delight in Our Busy Lives” at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, June 11, in the chapel of the church building at 1500 Brookdale
Road, Naperville.

At that time, Kathleen O’Grady and Scott Mitchell will lead
an exploration into making Sabbath part of daily life. The program will be
based on the book “Sabbath,” by Wayne Muller.

O’Grady, a member of St. Thomas Parish, is a clinical
psychologist with practices in Naperville and Chicago. Mitchell, who holds a
doctorate in psychology, is executive director of Samaritan Interfaith
Counseling Centering in Naperville.

Sabbath began centuries ago as an oasis of sacred time
within a life of unceasing labor. Today, creating such a special sacred time of
rest, renewal and delight can be a refuge for the soul. In the words of an old
ad, it’s “the pause that refreshes.” The program also will explore how such a
pause can become a party of daily life.
