PERMABLITZ-- Plant Fruit Trees & Bulbs for the Community!

HELP FIGHT HUNGER IN OUR COMMUNITY!

Come out to the farm and help The Resiliency Institute with the installation of the FIRST edible forest garden in Naperville!  This will be a day of learning, working, eating, community building, and fun.  Food, water and iced tea will be prepared by us, but we welcome others to bring something to share.

The McDonald Farm Edible Forest Garden covers a 130′ x 40′ existing tree line behind the Clow Education Center on The Conservation Foundation's McDonald Farm located in south Naperville.  This FOREST GARDEN will be a perennial based food production system filled with fruit and nut trees and  bushes, perennial vegetables, and herbs along with other functional plants. It includes swales, berms, hugelkultur, rain gardens, mandala garden, metal igloos and arbors, stone and wooden bridges, and a lot of planting!

On this day we will be sheet mulching, planting fruit trees and bulbs.

A PERMABLITZ is an informal gathering involving a day on which a group of people come together to create or add to edible gardens, share skills related to PERMACULTURE, build community and have fun!
