Pencil drawing classes begin Sept. 7 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church

Fall is just around the corner and wouldn’t it be wonderful to draw an outdoor scene of the season strutting its colors before winter blows into town?

Easy step-by-step instructions for “Drawing Landscapes in Pencil” will be offered from 9 a.m. – noon on six Saturdays this fall, beginning Sept. 7, at the senior center in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville. Noted artist and illustrator Robert Sunyog, a member of the Nature Art League at Morton Arboretum, will be the instructor.

Sunyog’s instruction will cover composition and perspective, including various techniques that can be used in drawing landscapes, trees, mountains, hills, rocks, buildings, boats, lakes and streams. Sunyog has taught several classes at the church in recent years and has been very well-received.

Class size is limited to the first 10 adult registrants and the $70 fee for the series is a real bargain, so registration by Sept. 1 is recommended.

Classes, sponsored by the Celebration of the Arts ministry of St. Thomas the Apostle, will be held Sept. 7, 14 and 28; and Oct. 5, 12 and 19.
