Join that energetic, effervescent contemporary Christian rock musician John Angotti as he and the music makers of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church “Prepare the Way for Christmas” during a family concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21. The program of music and singing, along with a party preceding it from 6:15 – 7:15 p.m., will be held at Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave., on the campus of North Central College in Naperville.
Tickets are $25 and are available for purchase between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday in the main office of the church at 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville. Proceeds will benefit the St. Thomas music ministry.
Angotti is a gifted composer and singer already familiar to many as a visiting guest artist at St. Thomas the Apostle where, for two years in the recent past, he led popular “St. Thomas Praise/Prays” events. At that time, he also conducted music at the church during weekend Masses once a month, and he continues to headline concerts with St. Thomas music makers locally.
The full-time music missionary travels worldwide, providing inspirational music and witness to all ages through concerts, workshops, retreats, missions, conferences and worship. Angotti performed during the pre-Mass celebration in Washington, D.C., when Pope Benedict XVI visited the United States in 2008. He and his band also participated in World Youth Day 2008 events in Sydney, Australia, that attracted over 200,000 young people from around the world.
Angotti has won numerous awards including “Male Vocalist of the Year,” “Pop/Contemporary” and “Praise and Worship Album of the Year” from the United Catholic Music and Video Association. (UCMVA recognition may be considered the Catholic equivalent of Grammy Awards.)
