DuPage Symphony Presents “Broadway Bonanza” at Cantigny Park July 12

The DuPage Symphony Orchestra presents
“Broadway Bonanza”, a concert featuring soprano Valerie Vinzant in
music from the most beloved Broadway repertoire of the past century. Music Director Barbara Schubert conducts
the DuPage Symphony, honored by the Illinois Council of Orchestras as the 2013
Community Orchestra of the Year, in a performance Saturday, July 12, 8:00 PM at
Cantigny Park, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton, IL.





This performance by the DuPage Symphony Orchestra features music of many
of Broadway’s greatest musicals including South Pacific, Oklahoma, The Sound of
Music, My Fair Lady, Candide, The Music Man, Carousel, and many others. Patrons
are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets as well as a picnic dinner to
this “Ravinia-style” performance.

Featured
during this performance are several selections sung by soprano Valerie Vinzant,
returning to the DuPage Symphony after a highly successful debut performance
with the orchestra in December 2013. Ms. Vinzant has been hailed by critics for
her "delectable lyric soprano" (Los Angeles Times) and her "pure
silk voice". She recently completed her second season as a
Domingo-Thornton Young Artist at the Los Angeles Opera. On the concert stage
she has appeared as a soloist with the LA Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony
Orchestra, Dallas Opera Symphony and is a frequent soloist of Baroque and
Classical Orchestras performing early works of Telemann, Handel, Bach, Vivaldi,
Haydn, Purcell and Mozart. Ms. Vinzant won the Dallas Opera Guild's top prize
in 2007 and is a four-time recipient of Metropolitan Opera National Council
Auditions awards. She studied at Indiana University with Carol Vaness and
earned her Bachelor degree at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

Tickets for this Saturday, July 12 performance
on the grounds of Cantigny Park by the DuPage Symphony are $12 in advance and
$18 the day of the performance. 
Tickets can be purchased in person at the Cantigny gift shop or entrance
gate, by calling Cantigny at 630.260.8162 or online through the orchestra’s
website, www.dupagesymphony.org. Advance
sales via phone and Internet are only available until July 8, after which
advance tickets may only be purchased in person at Cantigny Park.



 



Celebrating its 61st anniversary in
2014-2015, the DuPage Symphony is a 90-member ensemble of talented area
musicians dedicated to the orchestra’s mission of “Surrounding Our Community
With Music”.  The DSO presents a

Concert Hall in Naperville, a series of intimate chamber music concerts in
