Jared & Sierra Kulas have two young children, both affected by Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). In efforts to raise awareness and funds for research, the couple created a non-for-profit organization known as "Kure for Kulas, Inc.".

Lindsay & Michael Casten (owners, Mama Bracelets) met the Kulas Family at the Annual SMA Conference in the summer of 2013. The Kulas's had purchased some of their exclusive "Cure SMA" products a few months earlier so there was a bit of a connection. The two couples also conversed back and forth on Facebook through the "SMA Support Group" that the Kulas's started.
