What Does Facebook Say About Illinois Gov Candidates?

What does a candidate's Facebook page reveal? How many people like them, and who's talking about them. But what's more important?

Madison Bondi, the outreach manager for Reboot Illinois, breaks it down for you.

"Like in real life, just because you have money, doesn’t make you popular. Anyone can buy Facebook fans, but that doesn’t mean they’re engaging their fans (i.e. getting people to talk about their page) by either putting up interesting Facebook posts, or by replying to their fans’ comments on their posts," she writes. "So, if you see a page with a TON of Facebook fans, check to see how many people are actually engaging with that page, and compare it to other similar pages. Who is actually popular?"

Judging by the chart with this post, Bruce Rauner has a lot more fans (do you think he bought them?) but more people are talking about Dan Rutherford.

Business Owners: Let's Wait and See 

Still, it looks like the people haven't made up their minds — particularly business owners, reports Lily Oberman on Reboot Illinois. Cole Taylor Bank surveyed 250 Chicago-area business owners about their views on the economic climate in Illinois and the gubernatorial candidates.

• 63 percent said they were still undecided 
• Republican Bruce Rauner was favored by 11 percent 
• 8 percent opted for Gov. Pat Quinn, the incumbent Democrat
• 7 percent selected the GOP's Dan Rutherford
