A Plainfield Library Board member has announced her intention to fun for the District 5 Will County Board seat in November.

Gretchen Fritz, deacon at a Bolingbrook church and conservative talk radio host for WIND AM560, said she plans to run for the seat recently vacated by Lee Ann Goodson, who stepped down to take a job with Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare.

In a campaign announcement, Fritz say she's a longtime proponent of the Second Amendment, as well as "a concealed carry instructor for SAFER USA, a member of the National Rifle Association and the Illinois State Rifle Association."

Fritz also serves as a deacon at Fellowship Chapel of the Christian & Missionary Alliance in Bolingbrook and hosts a show at 9 p.m. Sundays on conservative talk radio station WIND AM560 on On Target Radio.

Fritz, who has a bachelor's degree in music business from Millikin University and a master's in library and information science from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee,
was selected unanimously by a committee of Republican precinct committeemen from Will County Board District 5 on Wednesday to run for the board.

Former Wheatland Township board member Darren Bennefield will also run as a Republican for the District 5 seat. Bennefield was appointed last month to replace Goodson on the board.

Fritz said she is a 30-year resident of Will County. She was elected to the Plainfield Public Library board in 2013.
