Strong Winds Topple Trees, Cause Damage

Storms sweep through area, leave downed trees, damage.

Winds in excess of 65 mph were clocked in Naperville on Monday morning as severe storms blew through the area.

Although some areas were left without any significant damage, other neighborhoods in town experienced downed trees and temporary power outages. A lightning strike also caused an in a home, but nobody was injured.

The National Weather Service says there is a 30 percent of storms moving through Naperville Monday afternoon, although severe storms are more likely south of the Illinois and Kankakee Rivers.
