Update: Severe Weather Threat in Naperville Now at 'High Risk'

Naperville could see severe thunderstorms Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Update 1 p.m. The National Weather Service is now classify the threat of severe weather Wednesday afternoon as "high risk."

A flash flood watch has also been issued for the Naperville area beginning at 4 p.m.

Severe thunderstorms could roll through the Naperville area Wednesday afternoon and evening. 

According to the National Weather Service office in Chicago, widespread severe weather will be a possibility on Wednesday, beginning around 1 p.m. and through the early evening hours. 

"Some of the thunderstorms will have the potential to producedamaging winds, large hail and tornadoes," according to the National Weather Service's Hazardous Weather Outlook. "Heavy rainfall will be possible with any thunderstorm, which could lead to localized flash flooding."

Thursday's forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 78 in Naperville.
