Naperville Tennis Courts to Get Renovation

The renovation is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 31, in time for the fall tennis season.

Tennis courts at Knoch Park in Naperville will soon get an upgrade.

The 12 tennis courts in the north section of Knoch Park will close on July 22 to undergo a full renovation and the addition of new lines to accommodate youth tennis.

The renovation will include crack repair, overlaying new courts on top of the old ones, installing new nets, posts and windscreens, color coating and striping. The renovation is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 31, in time for the fall tennis season.

The Naperville Park District is pleased to announce that The United States Tennis Association (USTA) recently awarded the district a grant to support the initiative to add new lines for youth tennis. As part of the tennis court renovation, the district will add 36-foot and 60-foot blended lines for 10-and-under tennis on the 78-foot courts at Knoch Park.

The new striping allows both youth tennis and adult tennis to be played on the same court, maximizing the space for all levels of play. The Park District added blended lines for four 10-and-under courts at Nike Sports Complex in 2012, also partially funded by a grant from the USTA national organization and the USTA Midwest Section.

“The blended lines allow us to expand our youth tennis programs and to host USTA 10-and-under tennis tournaments, which we could not do without the new courts,” said Program Manager Gary Foiles in a release.
