VIDEO: 'Modern Family' Star, Naperville Business Team Up to Support Same-Sex Marriage

ABC's Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Lt. Governor Shelia Simon stopped by The Tie Bar in Naperville to advocate for gay marriage in Illinois on Wednesday afternoon.

The Tie Bar owners Greg Shugar and his wife Gina are proving that small businesses are capable of doing big things - like teaming up with a celebrity and politician to rally support for same-sex marriage.

On Wednesday afternoon, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, a star of ABC's 'Modern Family', and Lt. Governor Shelia Simon visited The Tie Bar in Naperville to advocate the passing of gay marriage legislation in Illinois.

The Tie Bar, a popular Naperville-based online men's neckware company, recently partnered with Ferguson and his fiancé Justin Mikita's Tie the Knot organization. The Tie the Knot bow tie collection is designed and sold by The Tie Bar with all proceeds benefiting marriage equality.

Ferguson, Mikita and Simon will travel to Springfield for "Bow Tie Lobby Day" to lobby the General Assembly to pass marriage equality during this month's legislative session.

And the "Oh Wise one in his own little world" can't figure out why anyone would leave the Catholic Church HYSTERICAL! Tell us what else you preach and don't practice old judgmental one! let us all bow down to you and take everything you say as fact!
The good Lord is the only one to judge, not you. God doesn't make mistakes, so obviously gay people are fine in God's eyes, just not the almighty Catholics. Get over yourselves before you lose even more. And by your own logic, why should any of us listen to you???

That's Lutheran mumbo-jumbo talk! There's only one true faith and that is Catholicism. I still don't see them leaving in my community or surrounding ones! And like I said why should I listen to a Lutheran. Ho humm!
Despiser of Obama January 6, 2013 at 04:37 am
I must repeat again if same sex sin marriage is approved, let the excommunications and denial of the Eucharist began to couples that claim they are so called Catholics!
MommyOf3 January 6, 2013 at 04:45 am
That's just catholic jumbo jumbo talk :) lol!!
And for the record, I mean no disrespect to the sane Catholics that may be reading this.

Leah Vader and
Lynne Huskinson, a lesbian couple who got married in Canada last August, sent a letter recently to their state legislator decrying a Wyoming bill that would deny recognition to same-sex marriages. The lawmaker read the letter on the floor of the legislature. Soon after, on Ash Wednesday, a local paper interviewed the couple and ran a story including pictures of them with ash on their foreheads, a mark of their Roman Catholic faith. Not long after that the couple received a notice from their parish church telling them they have been barred from receiving Communion. Amen!! Let there be more.
MommyOf3 January 6, 2013 at 05:05 am
I just don't understand why you think I care about excommunication of gay Catholics that want communion or whatever? You think it's some powerful statement but nobody here is concerned about it. I'm glad you have something so wonderful to look forward too, but you're the only one that gets excited about such things.
MommyOf3 January 6, 2013 at 05:09 am
Does anyone know DOO in person? I'm beginning to think he's a troll? In any case, it's been entertaining.

Bye bye Mommyof3 take care of your kids already,

Excommunications of homosexuals will only start after the pedophiles are excommunicated. The Catholic church didn't excommunicate those men for raping young boys, so I don't see them excommunicating two people who love each other all too soon. Keep hoping, keep hoping.

You are just as bad as D-O-O. There was no such study, and it is unfortunate that people now listen to news programs based on their political stances.
bluebird January 6, 2013 at 02:12 pm
D-O-O.....
Sin ce neither you nor I are Lutheran, we should not be so jubilant. There are gymnastic coaches, social workers, people of all walks of life accused this way. I suspect that something like this done in God's name is especially painful and cuts deeper into the heart of the victim--who may then blame God for his abuse. But if you read the article you will find statements saying this case in the ELCA is the first case and the hierarchy has asserted that it conducts various tests, etc., to ensure that pastoral candidates are not blighted by this tendency. I don't assume that all Catholic priests are gay or pedophilic just because some bad cases have rightfully come to light. And you should not assume that way about all members of other denominations. And no, I am not Lutheran.
bluebird January 6, 2013 at 02:14 pm
The comments on this post have been, to say the least, un-edifying to read. You are right. Best to let it all go.
Jerry Gallo January 6, 2013 at 02:17 pm
...DOO is def a troll, why would anyone comment this much on an internet site unless they had some real issues. Not to mention DOO writes on just about every article i see.
Despiser of Obama January 6, 2013 at 02:20 pm
bluebird I agree with you! I was just pointing out a fact to Rita that' there is sex abusers in all walks of life and not just by Priest. I was also showing her it happens in her new Lutheran faith! I don't condone what the Priest did and they should be in prison as all pedophiles should.
Despiser of Obama January 6, 2013 at 02:21 pm
Jerry you must be a troll too, if you see all my comments on all the articles!
Despiser of Obama January 6, 2013 at 02:23 pm
Rita all pedophiles should be castrated and excummmunicated!!
bluebird January 6, 2013 at 02:27 pm
No, D-O-O....Catholicism is not the "one true faith." There are other denominations, and it is certainly true that they often have different views on some pretty big issues. Salvation, as taught in the Bible, is by faith alone in the work of Jesus Christ. Remember Isaiah: "all your righteousnesses are like dirty rags." And in Ephesians it says it is salvation by "faith, not works, so that no man can boast." The definition of "works" is anything---any service, any ritual. None of these alone can bring someone into God's favor. "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God....," as the Bible says. God's standard is absolute perfection, and none of us matches up. Anything less than perfection is trouble with a capital 'T'. As the song says,
"It shoulda been me Shoulda been you That was hanging on the cross." What Jesus did, He did in our place---because we are corrupted from birth and cannot ourselves earn it.. And pardon for sins only comes by asking Jesus to forgive us for our sins and to come into our lives and to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. This is what Jesus meant by being "born again." People can be religious all their lives and not be born again; people can belong to just about any denomination (though I do feel uneasy about a couple) and if they have been born again, they belong to the "one true faith". That, not denominational titles, is the key.
Jerry Gallo January 6, 2013 at 02:49 pm
First, i am glad you admit you are a troll finally because in fact you are and second, i said you comment on all the articles "i" read.

Yes bluebird we are all born of original sin, because of Adam and Eves sins, thus we need to be baptized.
