Gov. Quinn Signs Congressional Map Into Law

Challenges are expected against Democratic-drawn districts.

Republicans are expected to challenge a new congressional map that Gov. Pat Quinn signed into law earlier Friday. The Democratic-drawn map was designed to reverse Republican gains in last year’s election, according to a story in the Chicago Tribune.

The process of redrawing the map takes place every 10 years. Because of Illinois’ slow population growth the state will lose one of the 19 congressional seats for the next decade, according to the Chicago Tribune.
