A tornado warning issued earlier this evening has ended and a severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 1 a.m. for DuPage County, according to the National Weather Service.

Earlier this evening a funnel cloud was spotted around 7:05 p.m. on Route 59, five miles north of Interstate 88, according to National Weather Service reports. The NWS says the storm has produced winds stronger than 70 mph in numerous locations, including around 8:30 p.m. in Naperville, where there have also been reports of damage to trees.

Although the National Weather Service is reporting a funnel cloud, city officials said that strong winds and heavy rains were reported, but no circulating winds.

Naperville Fire Chief Mark Puknaitis said that there are some power outages around Naperville, mostly for ComEd customers, some trees are down and street lights out, but no structural damage has reports have been noted at this time.

Driving through Naperville, the massive downpour appeared to have caused some flooding to Naperville's main streets, including along Ogden Avenue.
