9/11 Conveyed Some Emotion with Bears 2011 1st Win

On a historic day, the Chicago Bears were focused for a win!

Watching the Bears and Falcons hold the American Flag, it was hard to believe they were about to do battle on the football field.  Chicago did an awesome job with the 9/11 festivities.  The organization along with the fans!

After the pregame festivities, the fans in the crowd were on their feet cheering on the Bears.  Devon Hester received 2 chances to start the game with a kickoff return.  Beforehand, Hester was charging up the crowd with his hands, and you knew it was time for some amazing football.

1st Quarter
ROY WILLIAMS contributed to the Bears 1st first down of the game via a pass from Jay Cutler.  WOW (wasn’t expecting that)!!!  Moreover, the offensive line protected Jay Cutler this quarter for some precision passing.  The passing game was incredible during the first quarter.  It had to be, for they were all over Matt Forte's running game the entire 1st Quarter.  But it didn't stop Forte's receiving contribution (contract extension??).

Matt Forte had a terrific 56 yard screen pass for a touchdown.  Forte was skillful in having the defenders bounce off of him before reaching the end zone.  The Bears caused 2 turnovers from the Falcons during the first half (DEFENSE!!!).  The 2 veterans of Charles Tillman and Brian Urlacher caused a fumble and an interception respectfully.

The defense for the Bears was not in tune with stopping the Falcons in the 1st quarter.  The Falcons were in a hurry-up offense, trying to keep the Bears off their game.  However, the Bears held them to a field goal.  This looks like what some teams will do to disrupt the Bears communication on Defense.

2nd Quarter
The Bears defensive pressure was extreme during the 2nd quarter.  The Defense almost pulled off a safety against the Falcons (QB was sacked at the 1 yard line).  Not only the defense, but the special teams get an A+ from me.  No kickoff returns for the opposing team, terrific punting/coverage, and allowing Devin Hester to perform his magic.

Johnny Knox moved the ball quite well by allowing himself to being open on the field during this contest.  Roy Williams was nowhere to be seen after his first catch (Update, he just made an incredible catch for a 1st down before the end of the 1st half).  Forte's rushing yards were increasing during the 2nd quarter.  The offensive line was not stellar in this quarter; Jay Cutler was sacked 3 times…!

HALFTIME: Bears 16 to the Falcons 3

3rd Quarter
Starting on defense, the Bears allow a HUGE 3rd down, running play, during the Falcons first offensive series.  As usual, the Bears recover their pose and only allowed a field goal.  Offensively, the Bears were starting to pound the ball with their running game.  Matt Forte was cutting and juking out the defense of the Falcons.  A Jay Cutler screen pass to Devin Hester and you witnessed magic again.  His great run didn't yield a touchdown from the refs, but an instant replay showed different (no change though).   Matt Spaeth made the 1yard catch for a Touchdown.  Go Bears!  Bears23 Falcons 6!

The Bears “D” scored a touchdown off of a fumble from the QB of the falcons, Matt Ryan.  Brian Urlacher recovers the ball and runs it in to the end zone.  The Atlanta Falcons moved the football very well on offense, but it never really transitioned into points.   Not a one touchdown at this point of the game.

4th Quarter
The Bears defense didn't allow an offensive touchdown, but the falcons defense forced an interception and run back for a defensive touchdown.  The offense for the Bears was erratic at times during this quarter, but Atlanta could not capitalize on the Bears lackluster offense.  All Atlanta could do was pile up stats, while The Chicago Bears came up with the victory.

Final: Bears 30 to the Falcons 12
