Darlene Senger Calls for Audit of Obamacare Navigator Program

Darlene Senger, Republican for the Illinois 11th Congressional District, called for an audit of the Obamacare navigator program today.  Mike Bost, Republican for the Illinois 12th Congressional District, joined with Senger and introduced House Resolution 807 which calls for the Department of Insurance to audit the navigator program.

“The navigator program is ripe for corruption, government money is being handed to community organizations with what seems to be little to no oversight,” said Senger.  “We have seen problems arise in other states and it is time we take a look at how the money is being spent here in Illinois.”

“Illinois has hired 1,200 navigators and has spent over $36 million in taxpayer funds on the program,” said Senger.  “Many of these navigators have no background in health insurance and they are being trusted with helping our citizens make important life decisions. We recently saw in California that at least 43 convicted criminals are working as Obamacare navigators, including three individuals with records of significant financial crimes. This is clearly a program that needs to be thoroughly reviewed.”
