“I watched big box stores put small businesses out on the streets.”

Ginny was born and raised in a family of entrepreneurs. She and her mom actually operated the first woman-owned Plumbing and Heating Supply in New Jersey. She understood the dedication and commitment a business owner needs in order to thrive; however, she quickly learned the need to remain competitive as big box stores began to capture their customers. When they decided to close the Plumbing and Heating Supply’s doors, Ginny was filled with a passion for the little guy.

“This country is built on local, small businesses.”

Small Businesses have thrived in America for centuries, so much so that those “small businesses” are now very large businesses. Consider McDonald’s. Once a small burger restaurant in California, now fast-forward 72 years and it’s an international powerhouse that serves nearly 69 million people a day (McDonalds.com).  Today we suffer a tough economic climate for small businesses, but we need to be more deliberate about supporting our fellow citizens. Look for the “made in the U.S.A” label, consider shopping at farmers markets to help local family farms, and become a more informed consumer. The free enterprise system is still alive, but we must be willing to reward the work of small business owners by investing in our community.

“Have a passion for your business. Know your competition. Develop an executable plan.”

Ginny’s belief in small businesses is contagious. Ginny currently sits on the board for Bloom Women’s Network, where she inspires a culture of women empowerment and community involvement.   As the 2013 Chair of Women in Business, she has decided to break free of the “breakfast club” rut so women and business owners can utilize all of the resources Women in Business can offer. She wants to provide more opportunities for members to connect, share ideas, establish rapport, and grow as both individuals and businesses. Ginny empowers the small businesses in our community, and our community is blessed to have this dynamic woman as an advocate.
