Naperville Area Humane Society Appoints New Board of Director Members

The Naperville Area Humane Society (NAHS) is pleased to announce the appointment of three local community members to serve on the Board of Directors:  Rosemarie Breske Garvey, Kelly Salach and Mike Thiel.  In combination, these individuals bring together a diverse mix of educational, professional and animal welfare experience that will progressively move forward the mission of NAHS.

Rosemarie Breske Garvey joined the Board in January and is the Vice President, Client Relations at Blooming Color Inc./Minuteman Press of Naperville.  Previous work experience includes over 10 years in banking with BMO Harris Bank.  Rosemarie received her Bachelor of Arts in Music, Business and Political Science from Millikin University.  She is an active member of the Naperville Jaycees and is the incoming Chairman of the Board (2015) for the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce. Rosemarie and her husband Caleb, and pup Bentley reside in Bolingbrook.  “Having a beloved rescue of my own, finding forever homes for needy pets is very dear to my heart” said Rosemarie.  “NAHS has an outstanding mission, one I strongly believe in and hope to help advance”.

Kelly Salach has been on the Board since February and is currently the President of National Bathing Products in Romeoville, IL, where he has spent the past 20 years in various positions.  Kelly received his Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Northern Illinois University.  He, his wife Amy, son Lucas and three dogs, Bryce, Oz and Milo live in Naperville.  Being a NAHS donor and volunteer himself, Kelly is very familiar with mission and goals of NAHS.  “I became a Board Member in an effort to give back to an organization which has given me much personally (Bryce & Milo are NAHS Alum), and to the local community” stated Kelly.  “I hope to be able further the mission of NAHS, one that so strongly parallels my beliefs”.

Mike Thiel, who started in April, is the most recent addition to the Board.  Mike has over fourteen years of banking and finance experience. Presently he is the Assistant Vice President of First Community Financial Bank and Branch Manager for the Naperville location. Mike received his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and is currently working towards an M.B.A. at Lewis University. He, his wife Fay and two-year son Andrew live in Plainfield. They plan to bring pets into the family by adopting through NAHS. “I firmly believe in the importance of promoting and educating others in the humane treatment of animals.” stated Mike. “I am looking forward to supporting such a wonderful cause and utilizing my financial knowledge and leadership ability to help move NAHS forward”.

Naperville Area Humane Society is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1979 to develop and implement animal welfare programs and services within Naperville and the surrounding area. NAHS’ goal is to protect animals and to prevent animal suffering. While providing shelter and adoption programs for homeless animals, NAHS also strives to educate the community on compassion, respect, and kindness toward all living things.
