Where to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in DuPage County

March 17 marks the Feast of Saint Patrick, the parton saint of Ireland. We at Patch share some spots around the county to eat, drink and be merry.

Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day and with the holiday falling on Sunday, many eateries, bars and restaurants will be celebrating all weekend long.

We have compiled a list of some spots around the area where you may want to stop and grab a pint and a bite, whether corned beef and cabbage or “kegs and eggs.”

Naperville

Tommy Nevin’s Pub

Celebrating on March 16, the pub will begin offering entertainment at 11:15 a.m. when the Trinity Irish Dancers perform.

Danny’s Pub & Grill

1550 N. Route 59

Naperville Patch readers have given Danny’s the thumbs up on St. Patrick’s Day, saying it is one of the places to be. The Pub claims to have the best corned beef and cabbage you will ever eat. They are offering the meal from March 15-17. 

Quigley’s Irish Pub

43 E. Jefferson St., Naperville

The pub will be open to all after the West Suburban Irish Parade on Saturday, March 16. There will be music on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday will be 21 and over all day. 

Schmaltz Deli 

1512 N. Naper Blvd., Naperville

Whether dining in or taking it to go, this restaurant is known for its corned beef. Facebook friends from Naperville, Downers Grove and Woodridge said Schmaltz is the place to get your corned beef. To accommodate diners, the deli is staying open longer on Saturday and Sunday with hours from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Tucked away this bar could be easily missed, but one of our Facebook friends tell us it is among the places to be on St. Patrick’s Day because Rick cooks the best corned beef and cabbage. 

 

Clarendon Hills

All Wined Up 

27 S. Prospect Ave., Clarendon Hills

It may not be a St. Patrick’s event, but you can still enjoy live music with Dave Matthews band cover singer Eric Totherow. No cover will be charged and the music will be playing from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. 

Darien

Q Billiards and Sports in Darien

8109 S. Cass Ave., Darien

The bar, which is under new management, will be holding a St. Patrick’s Day eventon March 16 with beer specials and whiskey tasting and more.

Downers Grove

Ballydoyle Irish Pub & Restaurant

5157 Main St., Downers Grove

Patch reader Susan Thom Becker says the pub has the best corned beef sandwiches “hands down.” Several other readers agreed with Thom that Ballydoyle it’s the place to be. 

Emmett's Ale House

No special celebrations are advertised online, but this downtown spot has a brewery offering a variety of handcrafted beers.  

Lemon Tree Grocer’s Zest Bistro

935 W. Burlington Ave., Downers Grove

At Zest Bistro they are serving up fish ‘n chips, corned beef and cabbage and a $6, 20oz, draft. Come taste the food that has made this day the Feast day of Saint Patrick. 

Shanahan’s Pub 

2009 Ogden Ave., Downers Grove

On St. Patrick’s Day the restaurant will be serving “Kegs and Eggs” an Irish breakfast buffet from 8 to 11 a.m. at both the Downers Grove and Woodridge locations.

Elmhurst

Fitz’s Pub 

172 N. Addison Ave., Elmhurst

Stop in for one of the daily specials including specials on burgers and hot dogs and brats. 

Riley’s Gathering Place 

590 S. York St., Elmhurst

For good pub food this is the place to be. So, grab your friends and family and head over for a brew and some grub.

Doc Ryan’s

490 S. Spring Road, Elmhurst

Stop in at this laid back Irish bar and enjoy a beer and a quick bite to eat.

Glen Ellyn

Shannon’s Irish Pub 

428 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn

The party begins at 8 a.m. March 17 when the pub opens for breakfast. The first 100 customers will receive a Shannon’s T-shirt. Breakfast specials will be offered before 11 a.m.  

Tap House Grill 

411 N. Main St. Glen Ellyn

All weekend long Tap House will have St. Patrick’s Day specials. On March 17 the bar will open for kegs and eggs at 9 a.m.  

Lemont

Stonehouse Pub

103 Stephen St., Lemont

On March 16, DJ’s will be spinning on both floors – not literally – of the pub and there are the weekly drink specials

Illinois Bar & Grill

1131 State St., Lemont

This family restaurant offers specials everyday. On Saturday they will have specials on Blue Moon pints

Lisle

Mullen’s Bar & Grill

3080 Warrenville Road, Lisle

The bar will be holding specials all weekend long with corned beef and cabbage, green beer, a St. Baldrick’s head shaving and music including pipers from the Firefighter’s Highland Guard of the Naperville Pipes & Drums. 

Wheaton 

Muldoon’s

133 W. Front St, Wheaton

There will be a St. Patrick’s Day celebration all weekend with music on Saturday and Sunday. The music kicks off Sunday at 11 a.m.

The Bank 

121 W. Front St., Wheaton

The Bank will be celebrating on March 16 with live music from 7 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. A special St. Patrick’s Day menu is also being served. 

Woodridge

Tilted Kilt

6320 Route 53, Woodridge

Beer of the month is Guinness and there’s a special Irish Hooley menu complete with Irish stew, shepherd’s pie and Bailey’s Irish Cream cheesecake.
