A new specialty grocery store and restaurant is expected to open in April in Naperville, according to Crain's Chicago Business.
Standard Market will be located near the intersection of Ogden and Aurora avenues and is designed to "evoke European-style open-air markets," according to the Standard Market website.
A building that was once a Frank's Nursery and later an antique store was demolished to make way for the new grocery. Standard Market also has a location in Westmont 333 E. Ogden Ave., which has a casual restaurant inside as well.
The Naperville location will also have a gelato bar, a cheese-aging cave, full-size coffee shop and a wine and cheese bar and is explained by Ken Tsang, Standard Market's director of technology and marketing, as "more specialty than Mariano's," according to Crain's.
The grocer will sell "local artisan products," bake fresh bread every day, offer 20 craft beers and 30 wines by the glass and will have a "sit-down grill" and "prepared meal area," according to Crain's.
Mayor George Pradel announced the opening of the grocery store during last year's Naperville State of the City address in January 2013
"Standard Market will give residents a chance to shop and dine all in one place," Pradel said. "This specialty grocery store will be at Aurora and Ogden on the old Frank’s Nursery property."
