Second Jersey Mike's Location Opens; Grand Opening Fundraiser Helps Naperville School

A second Jersey Mike’s Subs has opened at 111 E. Ogden Ave. in Naperville. To celebrate the grand opening of the new location, fundraisers are being held this week, which will benefit several Naperville Schools.

About 10,000 coupons will be distributed around Naperville offering a free sub sandwich for a minimum $2 donation to the participating schools.

The grand opening free sub fundraiser will be held from Wednesday to Sunday and will support Beebe Elementary School, Jefferson Middle School, Washington Junior High School and Naperville North High School.

The newest Naperville location opened on May 15 at 111 E. Ogden Ave. In 2009, franchise owner Mark Cross opened the first Naperville location at 2555 W. 75th St. Cross owns six stores in Naperville, Wheaton, Lisle, Plainfield and Aurora.

“Teaming up with Naperville schools is a great opportunity for me as a business owner to give back to children,” Cross said in a news release.  “Schools are the foundation of our community in Naperville and as a parent I believe in supporting our education system.  The additional revenue that is raised during our five-day fundraiser will help purchase high-tech equipment and fund classrooms for children from kindergarten through high school.  Through the generosity of our customers, I know that we will make a difference for our students and their education.”

Jersey Mike's first opened on the Jersey Shore in 1956. The company continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011. 

In its efforts to give back to local communities, since 2010 Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes, according to the company.
