Naperville TCBY Opening July 20, Grand Opening Planned for August

As we experience the hottest weather of the year to date, a new business set to open July 20 couldn’t have picked a better day or time.

The Country’s Best Yogurt (TCBY) will open its newest location Saturday in Naperville. The yogurt shop will be located at 2940 Showplace Drive, next to the new Tide Dry Cleaners and near AMC Showplace Naperville.

A grand opening celebration is set for Aug. 3 when customers can receive a free 3-ounce serving of frozen yogurt, according to a news release from the company. During the grand opening there will also be raffle prizes.

The shop is owned by Vic and Jen Howard, who opened their first TCBY in Shorewood in 2011, according to the news release.

“I have been a big fan of TCBY since the 80's and when they came out with their new self-serve design, I thought it would be a great addition to the community,” Jen Howard said in a news release. “TCBY has been making great yogurt for over 30 years and have been in the forefront in the yogurt industry introducing the first Greek frozen yogurt and Super Fro-Yo classification.”

TCBY has plans to have a total of 100 additional stores open by 2014, according to the company. The company currently has 400-plus franchise locations and claims to be the largest frozen yogurt brand with more than 30 years experience in the industry.

The Naperville location will be managed by relatives of the owners. Tom Kane, a cousin, will serve as general manager for both the Naperville and Shorewood locations. Ann Piercy, Jen Howard’s sister, will manage day-to-day operations. The company expects to create 15 full and part-time jobs.

The yogurt shop will offer 12 different flavors and 50 topping options, according to the release.
